NFIB member advocates for the 20% Small Business Deduction
What it means: NFIB member Alison Couch is making the voice of small business heard on the importance of the 20% Small Business Deduction by writing an op-ed, participating in a national press briefing, and testifying before the U.S. House Ways & Means Committee.
Our take: “NFIB is putting this Growth Agenda out for the new Congress. We think with the incoming Administration and its pro-small business focus that there’s a real opportunity here for Congress to do some very good things for small business but also to take some bad things off the table so that they can get back to running their business and creating jobs,” said NFIB President Brad Close.

Small business owners continue to fight for the 20% Small Business Deduction to be made permanent. NFIB member Alison Couch, President of Ignite Accounting & Business Advisors, joined NFIB President Brad Close for a national press briefing and wrote an op-ed for The Washington Times about the crucial impact of the deduction for her business and businesses she services.
During the press conference, Brad and Alison discussed NFIB’s Growth Agenda for the 119th Congress and top issues for Main Street. Alison was able to expand on her testimony before the U.S. House Ways & Means Committee and share the direct impact the deduction has on her business and what will happen if it expires at the end of this year.
In her op-ed, Alison urged Congress to make the 20% Small Business Deduction permanent and reduce regulatory burdens on Main Street, writing “I have practiced public accounting for 21 years and can tell you without doubt that the 20% Small Business Deduction has been the single most beneficial tax deduction for small business owners.”
If Congress fails to act, taxes will increase on over 30 million small businesses at the end of the year.
