NFIB: CNBC Survey Shows Virginia's Efforts Are Working

NFIB State Director Julia Hammond released the following statement today in response to CNBC’s ranking of Virginia as the No. 1 state for business: “Today’s news confirms that Governor Youngkin and our supporters in the General Assembly understand what it takes to help small businesses and large corporations succeed. “Much of Virginia’s success can be traced to the passage of the Small Business Recovery Plan in 2022. This legislation, which had the full support of NFIB’s small business members, included regulatory reform, financial assistance, and unemployment insurance reforms. Governor Youngkin also signed the Private Family Leave Insurance Act, allowing employers to buy paid family leave insurance. “These measures helped Main Street businesses recover from the economic setbacks caused by the COVID-19 shutdowns, but our small business members believe there’s still room for improvement. “Despite Virginia’s legislative successes, we still need meaningful tax reform to relieve some of the financial pressure on Main Street businesses, allowing them to expand, create jobs, and grow. Tax reform will be one of NFIB’s top priorities when the General Assembly returns to Richmond in January.”
