NFIB Applauds GA Senate for Small Business Bill

February 26, 2024 Last Edit: July 18, 2024

If passed and signed into law, it would protect Main Street from burdensome and costly legislation

State Director Hunter Loggins released the following statement following Senate approval of SB 429, the Small Business Protection Act of 2024:

“This is a big victory for Georgia’s small businesses. If passed by the House and signed by the governor, Senate Bill 429 would let the governor or any member of the General Assembly ask the Office of Planning and Budget and the Department of Audits and Accounts to produce a report on the impact any bill would have on Georgia’s small businesses.

“The Small Business Protection Act, part of Lt. Gov. Burt Jones’s Red Tape Rollback Initiative, is one of NFIB’s top priorities in this year’s General Assembly. Main Street businesses are under tremendous economic pressure right now. Inflation continues to drive up the cost of doing business, and employers are still struggling to fill vacant positions. Senate Bill 429 would help lawmakers identify bad legislation and ensure that any balls that pass the General Assembly would do more good than harm.

“On behalf of our members, I want to thank the Senate for passing S.B. 429 today and urge the House to vote ‘yes’ on the bill.”
