Guardian of Small Business Award given to lawmakers who vote to support small business
The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), Michigan’s leading small business advocacy organization, announced the winners of their most prestigious legislative recognition, the Guardian of Small Business Award, to members of the Michigan House and Senate.
“The NFIB Guardian of Small Business Award is presented to legislators who have proven themselves to be real champions of small business,” said NFIB Michigan State Director Amanda Fisher.
“During the last two years, Michigan faced a barrage of anti-small business legislation with the potential to threaten the survival of many small businesses. While we can only have eight individual winners, NFIB is grateful to the entire House and Senate Republican Caucuses who truly stood as Guardians of Small Business against these misguided and harmful policies.”
This session’s individual Guardian Award winners distinguished themselves beyond their 100% 2023-24 Voting Record by using their roles on key committees and in leadership to speak out for small business and free enterprise, said Fisher. “They worked with NFIB and advocated the small business position in a hostile legislative environment, and we are delighted we can honor them with this award.
NFIB is unique in that it only represents small and independent businesses, and our members decide our policy positions. NFIB informs lawmakers in advance which votes will be considered NFIB Key Votes and asks lawmakers to support the consensus views of our members. We also remind them that the results will be reported back to the NFIB membership. Click HERE to view the complete Michigan 2023-24 Voting Record.
