WASHINGTON, D.C. (Aug. 18, 2022) – The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s leading small business advocacy organization, released a new video today, featuring numerous small business owners across the country explaining how surging inflation has impacted their business operations and why economic uncertainty continues to create challenges for the future. 

Inflation remains a top issue for small businesses in every sector, with over a third of owners reporting it’s their top business problem, the highest level since 1979.

“There’s no doubt that the cost of material, healthcare, all of it is being impacted, and it’s put a huge burden on us,” said Ed Weatherill, a small business owner from North Carolina

“Inflation, coupled with supply chain issues, are the number one issue that are impacting our business. We’re seeing cost of labor, cost of goods, and materials skyrocket, and that is the single most impactful issue we are dealing with,” said Loren King, a small business owner from Indiana.

“Most of our customers are middle class Americans and they are getting nailed by this high inflation. Therefore, it is causing our stores to not hit the sales they need,” said Tina Miller, a small business owner from Virginia.
