Nebraska Small Businesses to Governor Pillen: Let’s Strengthen Our Economy

LINCOLN (Jan. 18, 2024) – Ahead of Governor Jim Pillen’s State of the State address, NFIB State Director Bob Hallstrom urged state lawmakers to support policies that make it easier to do business in Nebraska.

“In 2023, Nebraskans saw historic income and property tax relief. As a result, our tax code now makes us more competitive with neighboring states. But more work remains to be done to strengthen our economic footing. A recent NFIB survey found that inflation has returned as the top challenge for small businesses. Ballot initiatives are circulating in the state that threaten to undermine our job creators. Greater tax relief would allow Main Street to create more jobs, expand its operations, and invest in our communities.

“We will continue to work with the Governor, his cabinet members, and the legislature to adopt policies that improve the business environment here in Nebraska.”
