Minnesota: Interested In Serving on a State Board?

January 3, 2024 Last Edit: July 20, 2024

Help shape key policies by serving on a state board or commission.

Being a small business owner is hard work. We know it takes time, talent, and dedication to keep your business going, and NFIB does everything we can to protect your right to own, operate, and grow your business without interference from the government.

One way that government sticks its beak into your business is the constant creation and expansion of state boards and commissions. These groups have a range of responsibilities, from vetting projects for government funding to making policy recommendations to adopting rules and regulations with a huge impact on industries and local economies.

State boards and commissions need as much common sense and experience as they can get, and there’s no better person for the job than a small business owner. Fellow NFIB members are currently serving on key state boards and helping push back on overreach from big government and big labor.

If you’re interested in serving on a state board or commission, you can check out the vacancies and information on how to apply here : Open Positions Search (state.mn.us).
