Michigan U.S. Rep. John James Speaks to NFIB

U.S. Rep. John James has had the strong support of small businesses in his campaigns to represent Michigan in the U.S. Congress. In 2018 and 2020, NFIB endorsed James in successive races for the U.S. Senate. Though unsuccessful, James waged vigorous challenges against incumbent senators, ultimately winning 46% percent and 48% of the vote, respectively, the strongest performances by a Republican in 20 years. In 2022, James ran for the U.S. House in the new 10th District in suburban Detroit, once again with the strong backing of small business, and he was elected in an otherwise disappointing Election Day in Michigan. Congressman James’ determination to serve his home state in Washington, D.C. reflects the determination and hard work of small business owners, and he keeps the needs and challenges of Main Street entrepreneurs and their employees front and center as he considers legislation in the Capitol. Cong. James knows the concerns of business owners firsthand, having helped manage and then run his family’s supply chain business after returning to Michigan from attending West Point and serving eight years in the army, including multiple tours in Iraq. In fact, James and his business, James Group International, are NFIB members. Recently, Cong. James sat down to talk to NFIB members in this 3½-minute video filmed by NFIB (click the link below). Through his service in the military and work in his family’s business, which he led to even greater growth and success, Cong. James can state: “I see the great power that small business and free enterprise can have in allowing everyone to pursue and achieve the American Dream.” In the video, Cong. James discusses his career and small business, why he ran for office, why it’s important to have small-business owners as lawmakers, how important it is to hear from NFIB members on small-business issues, and some of the proposals to help small businesses that he is working on. “I am excited to work for you,” said James. NFIB thanks Congressman John James for taking the time to talk to his fellow NFIB members.
