McKees Rocks Entrepreneur to Chair NFIB State Leadership Council

(HARRISBURG), Feb. 28, 2022 – David Cranston Jr., president of Cranston Material Handling Equipment Corp. in McKees Rocks, has been named chair of the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) Pennsylvania State Leadership Council, succeeding outgoing chair Warren Hudak, president of Hudak & Company in New Cumberland. The 15-member PA Leadership Council is an advisory board that assists the association in developing strategies to support small businesses throughout the Commonwealth. Leadership Council members are nominated either by NFIB’s state director or current board members and elected by the council. Cranston’s company was founded in 1957 by David’s grandfather, Harwood Cranston. His father, David Cranston Sr., joined the company in 1960. After graduating from Bob Jones University in 1983 with a degree in business, David joined the company, and he became president in 1999. The company posts more than $4 million a year in sales and employs twelve people. CMHEC is a longtime member of NFIB. “David cares tremendously about the free enterprise system and ensuring that small businesses have an even playing field,” said NFIB State Director Greg Moreland. “We are delighted he accepted this leadership position. He has been a strong advocate for small business and will help us fight in the capitol for policies that will allow small business owners to grow their businesses and create jobs.” “I’m honored to chair the state Leadership Council and to have the opportunity to speak on behalf of NFIB’s Pennsylvania members,” said Cranston. “This is a time of crisis for Main Street businesses. We’ve been hit hard by the pandemic, the state government shutdowns and mandates, and ever-increasing taxes. Now is the time for the voice of small business to be heard loud and clear in Harrisburg, and I am excited to help.” NFIB is the state’s leading small-business advocacy organization.
