Kansas Small Business Owners Applaud Legislature’s Tax Reform Package

January 23, 2024 Last Edit: July 18, 2024

NFIB Kansas calls on Governor Kelly to support tax cuts for Main Street and hardworking families.

TOPEKA (Jan. 23, 2024) – Following the Legislature’s passage of HB 2284, which would provide meaningful tax relief to Main Street and hardworking families, NFIB State Director Dan Murray issued the following statement.

“Last year, Kansas small business owners were disappointed state lawmakers failed to pass tax reform. Since then, prices have only continued to skyrocket. In recent years, neighboring states have cut their taxes and unleashed their local economies. Kansas has a nearly $3 billion surplus. Those dollars belong to the taxpayers. Our small business owners applaud the Legislature for passing a tax reform package that simplifies the tax code and provides needed financial relief. We ask Governor Kelly to support this measure to make the Sunflower State more competitive and provide needed relief to Kansans.”
