Indiana small business owners: NFIB Wants your Input on State Regulations & Electricity Prices

Has your small business been affected by state regulations or electricity costs? If so, please let us know. This crucial information will help NFIB advocate for better outcomes on both issues. State Regulations: Unnecessary regulation is a top concern for NFIB’s members and is particularly burdensome on small businesses, which lack the resources and personnel to keep up. According to NFIB’s monthly Small Business Economic Trends survey, “unreasonable government regulations” ranks as the fifth largest problem. The Indiana General Assembly formed a Task Force to study this issue and we need to inform them of costly regulations that disproportionately affect small businesses. Electricity Prices: Electricity prices have increased 15% over the last 12 months (July CPI report). According to NFIB’s Problems and Priorities survey, several small business owners are negatively impacted by high electricity costs, especially those industries heavily dependent on electricity such as manufacturing and many in the service sector industries. The Indiana General Assembly formed a Task Force to study this issue and we need to inform them of the importance of affordable electricity especially given the recent increases in rates. If either of these issues apply to your small business, please share your experience. The more information we can collect to share with lawmakers, the more equipped we are to address them. You can send an email to the Indiana State Director at Natalie.Robinson@nfib.org.
