Gov. Ivey's Red Tape Reduction Initiative Offers Immediate Relief to Small Businesses

NFIB State Director Rosemary Elebash says Gov. Kay Ivey’s executive order on reducing red tape provides immediate relief to small businesses still rebounding from the economic setbacks that began with the COVID-19 pandemic three years ago this month. “Our economy has improved considerably since the pandemic began, but inflation, supply chain issues, and a tough labor market are still creating challenges for many small businesses,” Elebash said. “Governor Ivey’s commitment to reducing red tape and streamlining state government will relieve some of the pressure on Main Street businesses and make it easier for them to fully recover. “Our members are especially grateful to the governor for imposing a one-year moratorium on new rules and regulations. Our members usually don’t have and can’t afford compliance officers to ensure their businesses are keeping up with every new mandate coming out of Montgomery. Putting the breaks on new requirements and streamlining the Alabama Administrative Code gives Main Street a little breathing room and a chance to get caught up.”
