General Assembly Considers Regulatory Sandbox Act

Legislators in both the House and the Senate have held hearings on the Regulatory Sandbox Act (SB 3), which is designed to ease the regulatory burden on start-up companies.

Among other provisions, this Act would also establish a regulatory relief office to “review state laws and regulations that may unnecessarily inhibit the creation and success of new companies or industries.” This office would then have the authority to provide lawmakers recommendations “on modifying or repealing such state laws and regulations.”

NFIB State Director Brad Jones testified in support of the measure in both the House and the Senate. While addressing the House Economic Development Committee, Jones outlined how the Act would ease the regulatory burden on Missouri small businesses:

“Our Main Street folks don’t read the Missouri Registrar every month to see what new regulations are coming out,” Jones said. “We support this bill. This is a great tool in our toolbox.”

NFIB will continue to work with lawmakers to get the Regulatory Sandbox Act to the Governor’s desk. CLICK HERE to learn more about small business priorities for the Show-Me state.
