Early Voting Begins May 16

Early voting in the May 24 primary begins on May 16. The primary will settle which Democratic and Republican candidates will appear on the November ballot.

In the March 1 primary, about 50 candidates statewide failed to receive over 50% of the vote, triggering the runoff election between the candidates who came in first and second.

In statewide races, incumbent Ken Paxton will square off against George P. Bush for the Republican nomination for attorney general, while Rochelle Garza and Joe Jaworski will compete for the Democratic nomination.

Meanwhile, Michelle Beckley and Mike Collier are vying for the Democratic nomination for lieutenant governor. The winner will face incumbent Dan Patrick, who won the Republican nomination with 76.6% of the vote.

Early voting ends on May 16.
