Early voting for this year’s March 19 primary election begins February 8. It is also the first day for county clerks to mail out non-overseas vote-by-mail ballots.

The primary elections will determine party nominations for this fall’s elections, including for the U.S. Presidency, U.S. Congress, Illinois General Assembly, and local races.

Eligible citizens who are not registered to vote may register online at the Illinois Online Voter Registration Application through March 3. After March 3, they may visit their local county clerk’s office to register in person.

Voters interested in voting by mail may access the vote-by-mail application on the State Board of Elections’ website.
