Jared Polis’s State-of-the-State yesterday morning at the State Capitol. “After special invitations were sent to business groups, including NFIB, to attend the State of the State address, it would have been nice to hear the governor talk of what he proposes to assist Colorado’s small businesses get back on dry ground. “My organization was hoping to hear that the Colorado regulatory albatross would be loosened around the necks of business owners. The governor could have shared his position on the many bills being introduced that continue to interfere in the employer/employee relationship. That would have shored up our governor’s self-assessment of being pro-business, but it was not to be. “’Colorado’s precious water supply’ was discussed, however, but in terms of new homes and communities. No mention of the needed water being taken from agricultural operations in the state, translated that means the family farm. “After one hour and fifteen minutes, he ended his State of the State speech without a mention of the important role Colorado’s business community, large or small, plays.
