2024 Pennsylvania Small Business Legislative Recap

Small business updates & what to expect next session

The 2023-2024 Pennsylvania legislative session resulted in the fewest bills being signed into law in nearly 50 years, which ultimately ended up being a good thing for small businesses as the state Senate stopped several harmful and expensive bills from becoming law.

Lawmakers in the House focused on legislation that would deter small business growth, such as increasing the minimum wage and expanding social programs. In the Senate, senators focused on issues like regulatory reform and reducing taxes – legislation that would benefit Main Street.

While many pro-small business candidates were elected in November, it will be difficult for lawmakers to make much progress as the General Assembly remains split.

The 2025 session will begin on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. Your NFIB Pennsylvania team will be in Harrisburg tracking any legislation that pertains to the small business community. Stay tuned!
