NFIB/Iowa State Director: Matt Everson Matt comes to NFIB with over a 15-year history of key positions both in Iowa and Washington D.C.  He began his career serving as the Special Project Coordinator for U.S. Senator Gordon Smith.  From there, he served as the Associate Director of Operations in the U.S. Treasurer’s Chief of Staff office from 2003 – 2008.  In that role, Matt Served as liaison between the Treasury Secretary and small businesses, as well as managed all domestic and international travel and logistics for the Secretary. Matt then moved to Iowa where he served as the Chief of Staff to the former Iowa State Senate Minority Leader.  In this role, he served as the primary political, policy, and grassroots strategist for the Minority Leader from 2008 - 2009.  Matt then went on to serve as the Director of State Government Affairs at the National Broadcasters Association, before returning to Iowa in 2012 with his wife to raise their children.  Matt currently serves as a Government Affairs Consultant at Next Generation Public Affairs in Des Moines, Iowa.   200 E.
