EPA extends date for Waters of the US rule, protects small business land owners, says National Federation of Independent Business

Washington, D.C. (January 31, 2018)– The National Federation of Independent Business today issued the following statement on behalf of Karen Harned, Executive Director of the NFIB Small Business Legal Center on the Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Department of the Army finalizing a rule to extend the applicability date of the 2015 Clean Water Rule:

NFIB applauds the EPA for delaying the Waters of the U.S. (WOTUS) rule while it carries out President Trump’s directive to rescind or revise the 2015 WOTUS rule. The 2015 rule would have dramatically expanded the EPA’s power to regulate virtually all land everywhere. It would have imposed heavy compliance costs on small businesses and triggered a flood of costly lawsuits.”
