Louisiana Legislative Session to Begin April 14

March 31, 2025

Fiscal session expected to focus on lawsuit abuse reform and taxes

The Louisiana Legislature will gavel into session at noon on Monday, April 14, for the start of the 2025 Regular Session. As a fiscal session, it will run for eight weeks and must adjourn no later than 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12.

“This session gives us an important opportunity to make progress on lawsuit abuse and insurance reform,” said NFIB State Director Leah Long. “Louisiana’s excessive litigation environment continues to drive up costs for small business owners, and we’re proud to work alongside Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple and other business groups to push for meaningful change.”

In addition to legal and tax issues, NFIB will be vigilent against burdensome government mandates and advocate for meaningful workers’ compensation reform.

“We’ll be watching every bill that could impact small businesses and keeping our members informed every step of the way,” Long said.
