Please Vote Your Utah Member State Ballot

Date: December 15, 2023

Results help center NFIB’s lobbying agenda in the Legislature

Your NFIB Utah-member state ballot has been sent to you. If you haven’t already voted, please use it to express your opinion on four issues the Legislature will be grappling with in 2024.

Unique among business associations, NFIB annually polls its members on state and federal issues vital to their ability to own, operate, and grow their enterprises. Results from the member ballots center NFIB’s lobbying position in Salt Lake City and in Washington, D.C. It’s because of this method, elected officials and other policymakers from coast to coast consider NFIB to be the true voice of small business.

The 2024 NFIB Utah-member ballot asked four questions:

  • Should Utah require businesses to accept cash as a form of payment?
  • Should Utah replace the current tax on motor fuel with a vehicle miles traveled tax to fund future highway and road construction and maintenance?
  • Should the legislature raise the exemption on the tangible personal property tax on business inventory and equipment?
  • Should the legislature authorize additional funding to backfill the COVID-19 childcare relief funds that expired in September 2023?

The ballot contains background information and proponents’ and opponents’ comments on each of the issues. Please vote your ballot. The Utah Legislature returns for business on January 16, 2024, and adjourns on March 1.
