Gov. Joe Lombardo Meets with NFIB Leadership Council

Members of NFIB Nevada’s Leadership Council met with Gov. Joe Lombardo Wednesday, May 15, in Las Vegas to discuss the economy and issues expected to be debated in the 2025 session of the State Legislature. Small-business owners voiced their views on minimum-wage increases, permitting, water rights, charter schools, and a health-care public option. In addressing those issues, the governor also mentioned:
  • His support for raising the exemption level of the commerce tax
  • His executive order requiring every state agency, board, and commission to review and eliminate needless regulations
  • His efforts on education and public safety
  • The importance of having a partisan balance in Carson City
“We thanked the governor for making the time to meet with NFIB members and hear their concerns,” said Tray Abney, State Director for NFIB in Nevada. “No one speaks with more authority on small-business issues and small-business owners, and this meeting with the governor was valuable for him and for us to help refine the goals for next year’s session of the State Legislature.” Putting small-business owners in direct touch with the policymakers who create the rules and regulations their enterprises must legally abide by is one of the bigger advantages to membership in NFIB. Elected officials particularly enjoy the opportunity to hear the Power of the Small Business Voice.
