NFIB Hawaii Announces New State Director

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Michael Iosua, Hawaii State Director, miosua@mkadvocacy.com or Tony Malandra, Senior Media Manager, anthony.malandra@nfib.org Honolulu, February 7, 2023—The nation’s voice of small business for 80 years today announced its new state director for Hawaii. “We’re excited Michael Iosua has decided to join our team,” said Charles Owens, NFIB regional state director. “His experience means we will not have to skip a beat in promoting the small-business agenda in the Hawaii State Legislature.” Iosua replaces Melissa Pavlicek who left to dedicate more time to her family. As a partner in the government relations firm MK Advocacy Group, Iosua brings vast experience in strategic advocacy. He has successfully worked on legislative issues at the local, state, and federal levels. Iosua received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and his MBA and law degrees from Brigham Young University. “I look forward to the challenge of carrying on NFIB’s educational mission and to give a voice to Hawaii’s small businesses.” said Iosua. “It’s important to remember that small businesses are not just smaller versions of big businesses. A one-size-fits-all rule, regulation, or tax can do them more harm than good. Small businesses have endured a lot over the past few years from COVID-forced closures and supply-chain disruptions to labor shortages and inflation. It is vitally important that Hawaii policymakers, help to support local business owners.” The typical NFIB member employs 10 people and reports gross sales of about $500,000 a year.
