Small Business Owners Turn Thumbs Down on Proposition HH

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Tony Gagliardi, Colorado State Director, tony.gagliardi@nfib.org, or Tony Malandra, Senior Media Manager, anthony.malandra@nfib.org DENVER, Aug. 2, 2023—The result from a one-question special survey of its small-business-owning membership released today showed a 90% rejection of Proposition HH on this November’s ballot. Unique among business associations, the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) regularly ballots its members on issues vital to their survival and then centers its lobbying and political positions on the results. NFIB is also the only small business association whose membership is comprised entirely of small-business owners who pay yearly dues to belong. NFIB Colorado’s most recent special ballot asked just one question: “Should Colorado reduce TABOR [Taxpayer Bill of Rights] tax refunds and use the retained funds to lower property taxes and increase education and local government funding?” Ninety percent were adamantly opposed to the idea, 9 percent supported it, and 1 percent were undecided.” “Small-business owners have been unwavering in their support for TABOR for the 30 years of its existence,” said Tony Gagliardi, Colorado state director for NFIB. “So, this result doesn’t really surprise, but it is a shining example of something small business owners cherish—predictability. Predictability in rules, regulations, and taxes.” Keep up with the latest Colorado small-business news at www.nfib.com/colorado or by following NFIB on Twitter @NFIB_CO or on Facebook @NFIB.CO ### For 80 years, NFIB has been advocating on behalf of America’s small and independent business owners, both in Washington, D.C., and in all 50 state capitals. NFIB is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, and member-driven association. Since its founding in 1943, NFIB has been exclusively dedicated to small and independent businesses and remains so today.
