DENVER, Dec. 29, 2022—The state’s leading small-business association today released the results of its annual poll of its membership, just ahead of the January 9, 2023, opening of the Colorado General Assembly.

As it does every year, the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) polls its members on state and federal issues affecting their right to own, operate, and grow their businesses. Results from the annual polls help center NFIB’s lobbying positions in Denver and in Washington, D.C.

“Our members’ justified crankiness comes through loud and clear in our poll,” said Tony Gagliardi, NFIB’s Colorado state director. “For a variety of reasons, this is not a good time for small-business owners, which means it’s not a good time to ask them to pony up more money for electronic vehicle (EV) infrastructure that they believe the EV industry should be coming up with, and it’s not a good time to sell them on woke business policies.”

The 2023 Colorado Member Ballot asked four questions.

Should Colorado become a right-to-work state?
Yes 75%
No 21%
Und. 4

Should individuals be allowed to choose the pharmacy of their choice for their prescription drugs?
Yes 92%
No 5%
Und. 3%

Should Colorado prohibit its state agencies from doing business with financial institutions that adhere to principles advocated by environmental and social justice groups?
Yes 74%
No 18%
Und. 8%

Should Colorado impose new taxes, assessments, or fees on motorists, shipping, or commercial and residential energy consumption to pay for infrastructure to accommodate electric vehicles?
Yes 7%
No 91%
Und. 2%
