SACRAMENTO, Calif., Oct. 4, 2022—The political action committee for California’s largest and leading small-business association today announced its endorsement of Devon Mathis for State Assembly.

“In arguably the most anti-business Legislature in California history, Assemblyman Devon Mathis stood Central Valley strong against some of the worst proposals ever seen, and helped lead the charge stopping them,” said John Kabateck, California state director for the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), speaking for the NFIB CA PAC, which made the endorsement. “He also helped pass Assembly Bill 80, a top small-business priority, which partially conforms state tax law to the federal tax law regarding the forgivability of PPP loans—a huge help to Main Street enterprises. Small business has no stronger supporter and truer champion in Sacramento than Devon Mathis. He is small businesses’ undisputed choice for State Assembly.”

The new 33rd Assembly District includes all of Kings County and portions of Fresno and Tulare counties.

NFIB’s national membership spans the spectrum of business operations, ranging from sole proprietor enterprises to firms with hundreds of employees. While there is no standard definition of a small business, the typical NFIB member employs 10 people and reports gross sales of about $500,000 a year. The NFIB membership is a reflection of American small business. Small-business owners are also a potent political force.
