SACRAMENTO, Calif., Jan. 30, 2023—California’s leading small-business association today announced its new chief legislative advocate in Sacramento.

“Like the small-business owners he will speak on behalf of, Tim Taylor knows what it takes to get things done,” said John Kabateck, California state director for the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB). “In addition to representing clients in his own firm since 2009, he brings state government and state legislative experience to the job, giving him that perfect blend of public and private experience so necessary for that lobbying edge.”

Taylor has worked at the California Department of Insurance representing the commissioner at public hearings, served in the California Assembly Republican Caucus as a policy consultant, and even spent time abroad in Angola as the in-country director for the International Republican Institute.

From 2001 to 2004, he managed the Sacramento office of Pringle and Associates, where he worked with such clients as J.P. Morgan, Yamaha, Intuit, The Tiger Woods Foundation, and the Irvine Ranch Water District. As principal advocate for his own firm, Taylor & Associates, he has represented small businesses such as Cinergic, Clean Water Holdings, and Pathion.

In 1986, Taylor earned an Avionics degree from the United States Air Force, and in 1992 a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of Utah. In 2008, he earned a degree in Spanish Language from the University of Buenos Aires. He is fluent in Spanish and conversant in Portuguese. Among his community service activities is teaching chess at a local elementary school.

“Small-business owners don’t clock in or clock out or separate their work lives from their private ones,” said Taylor. “Their lives are their work, and their work is their life. There is not a single association whose charter and members I respect more nor any association I would rather represent than NFIB.”

Tim Taylor can be reached at [email protected].
