Reminder: New York State Mandated Sexual Harassment Prevention Training Required Every Year

Date: September 16, 2021

Under New York State law, all employers, regardless of size, must complete interactive sexual harassment prevention training with all current employees at least once per year. This may be based on the calendar year, anniversary of each employee’s start date, or any other date the employer chooses. New employees should be trained as quickly as possible. New York State law does not exempt remote workers and no changes have been made to the law due to COVID-19.

The New York Department of Labor does provide compliant model policies and training resources for employers. The resources are free to use and are available for download. For more information on the law and a link to model policies and training, visit New York State’s combatting sexual harassment in the workplace website.
