The New York State Senate and Assembly are scheduled to be in Albany for three more weeks. With 11 legislative session days to go, lawmakers are expected to consider a wide range of bills and topics, including expanding New York’s existing bottle bill law and banning certain plastic materials, new legislation that would allow plaintiffs’ attorneys to sue businesses for labor law violations and unfair business practices, and require retailers to hire security guards if they are victims of violent incidents.
Albany lawmakers typically pass hundreds of bills in the final weeks of the session. NFIB is actively monitoring and engaging on the issues that will impact small businesses.
