The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s leading small business advocacy organization, released its biennial voting record for New Mexico’s 56th Legislature. The record includes six key votes on issues ranging from costly employer mandates to burdensome regulations. Thirty-two lawmakers earned 100% on the voting record, including 12 members of the Senate and 20 members of the House Representatives. “Each year, the Legislature considers proposals that would devastate family-owned small businesses here in New Mexico,” NFIB State Director Jason Espinoza said. “As inflation continues to pose a serious challenge to Main Street, our members are grateful to the lawmakers who stood firm against harmful proposals that would dramatically increase the cost of doing business here in our state.” The NFIB Voting Record does not reflect every element considered by a legislator when voting or represent a complete profile of the lawmaker. NFIB’s 2024 Voting Record included 11 key votes on issues important to small business owners.
