NFIB State Director Testifies for Bill to Lower Two State Business Taxes

Date: February 01, 2021

Tells Senate Committee it will encourage business recovery and growth

On Febuary 1, the state Senate Ways and Means Committee heard testimony in a virtual hearing on a bill that would help small businesses by reducing two types of business taxes, the Business Profits Tax (BPR) and the Business Enterprise Tax (BET). NFIB in New Hampshire, supports SB 13 and the following quotes from NH State Director Bruce Berke were released to the media:

“At a time when many small businesses have suffered from significant revenue losses due to the pandemic, lowering the cost of doing business by reducing taxes will help them come back, grow once again, add jobs, and lead the economic recovery.

“The last time there were phased-in reductions in these two business taxes, much higher revenue came into state coffers which proved how effective the tax cuts are in creating an economic surge. Nothing could be more helpful now, not only for small business owners and for their employees, but also to help the state budget after the economic downturn.”
