Southern Minn. Congressional Special Primary Election on Tuesday, May 24

On Tuesday, May 24, voters in Southern Minnesota will decide the Republican and Democratic candidates in a special primary election for Congressional District 1. The winning candidates will go on to a special general election on August 9 to fill the remainder of the late Rep. Jim Hagedorn’s term.

Congressman Hagedorn, a friend to small businesses in his district and around the state, passed away in February 2022.

Last weekend, Democrats in Congressional District 1 endorsed former Hormel Foods CEO Jeff Ettinger. In April, Republicans met to endorse a candidate but were unable to reach a consensus after several rounds of balloting.

The endorsement comes after the close of the candidate filing period, so all candidates will go on to the special primary on May 24.

It’s important for small business owners in CD 1 to get out and vote!
