Date: June 03, 2020

Phase 2 Reopening

Governor Baker issued guidelines for additional businesses that will be a part of Phase 2 of Massachusetts’ reopening. More specifically, this included guidelines for retailers. Childcare reopening will also coincide with Phase 2 and the state provided information on how to prepare.

Retailers will be allowed in-store shopping, although at a reduced capacity. Businesses will be permitted 8 people for every 1,000 square feet or 40% of maximum store capacity. Restaurant Announcement Expected June 6

While an exact date has still not been made available by the Baker administration for when patrons will be allowed inside restaurants, Massachusetts restaurants should expect to begin the reopening process as early as June 8. Governor Baker will announce more details on June 6, but what we do know is that outdoor dining will be allowed during Phase 2 of the reopening.

There is an extensive list of rules businesses must adhere to in order to reopen and we urge business owners to begin reviewing the new guidelines for operating a restaurant. The checklist can be found here: https://www.mass.gov/info-details/safety-standards-and-checklist-restaurants.
