NFIB Kansas Calls on Legislature to Override Governor’s Veto of Tax Relief

Date: April 24, 2024

“Failing to return a portion of the $3 billion surplus to the taxpayers is cynical and irresponsible.”

TOPEKA (April 24, 2024) – Following Governor Kelly’s veto of the Legislature’s bipartisan tax relief package, NFIB State Director Dan Murray issued the following statement.

“Working together across party lines, the Legislature made great strides to reduce Kansans’ tax burden. Just last week, state officials confirmed Kansas’ revenue projections are strong. And yet, Governor Kelly is once again stalling tax relief. Failing to return a portion of the $3 billion surplus to the taxpayers is cynical and irresponsible. Our small business owners operate on infamously thin margins. Main Street needs tax relief to raise their employees’ wages and expand their benefits. We ask state lawmakers to override the Governor’s veto and once again support these tax cuts for hardworking Kansans.”
