GA's Tax Holiday on Fuel Extended to Oct. 12

Date: September 13, 2022

Gov. Brian P. Kemp earlier this month signed two executive orders extending the temporary suspension of state taxes on motor and locomotive fuel as well as the supply chain state of emergency. Both orders will be effective through Oct. 12.

“Our members truly appreciate the governor’s decision to continue waiving the state tax on motor fuels,” NFIB State Director Nathan Humphrey said. “The cost of fuel affects the cost of practically everything, and those cost increases are inevitably passed along to small businesses.

“The price at the pump is way down from the record $4.50 a gallon we were paying in June, but we’re still paying a lot more than we were a year ago,” Humphrey said. “Extending the suspension of the 29.1 cents per gallon state tax on gasoline and the 32.6 cents tax on diesel will reduce the cost of doing business in Georgia and help small businesses and their customers alike.”
