NFIB Requests Governor Northam to Set a Clear Path to Reopening Economy by June 1

NFIB, along with our partners the Virginia Manufacturers Association and the Virginia Retail Federation, delivered a letter to Governor Northam and the Virginia General Assembly on behalf of the Coalition for a Strong Virginia Economy on Monday, March 29th requesting the Governor set a clear path to reopening Virginia’s economy by June 1, 2021.

Also, within the letter the Coalition for a Strong Virginia Economy outlined two additional provisions to support the business community in its safe return to normal operations.  They were 1) expanded vaccination access through voluntary employer resources and 2) new workplace safety guidelines for employees and customers that have been vaccinated or are immune.

The Governor’s latest Executive Order (EO) exemplifies the need to constantly check and balance the use of executive power.  NFIB is committed to constantly reminding elected leaders and the public that this level of executive authority was never meant to be permanent and is limited.

You can read the letter in its entirety HERE.

NFBI will continue to reflect your values of safety, innovation, goal-setting, individual responsibility, scientific rigor, and economic freedom. This is difficult to do on normal business matters, and exceptionally challenging when involving 27 different organizations and a topic as politically charged as COVID-19.  Regardless, the Coalition for a Strong Virginia Economy got the content and tone right in this letter.  NFIB is proud to be one of the signatories.
