NFIB Comment on Governor’s Reopening Announcement Today

SACRAMENTO, Calif., April 6, 2021—Two officials from NFIB California, the state’s largest and leading small-business association, issued the following response to Gov. Gavin Newsom’s announcement today of a complete reopening of businesses on June 15.

From Sunder Ramani, chairman of the NFIB California Leadership Council, and principal of Burbank-based Westwind Media. 818-972-9000 sunder@wwm.tv

“Small-business owners need predictability and dependability from their governments to make a range of decisions from hiring to purchasing to expanding their enterprises. This reopening certainty will help those Main Street businesses affected the most an opportunity to recover and move forward. The governor’s establishment of a complete reopening date now gives them something solid to make plans with.”

From John Kabateck, California state director for the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB). 916-956-9027, John.Kabateck@nfib.org

“The governor’s reopening of all businesses is welcome news, and his stipulations should be easy enough to comply with. Right now, small businesses across the country are having a very difficult time filling job openings, according to NFIB’s latest Job Report, which found the problem at an all-time high. Now with the governor’s green light to all businesses, we will see more men and women across the Golden State getting back to work, consumers fueling our economy, and our communities growing once again.”
