SACRAMENTO, Calif., May 10, 2022—From John Kabateck, California state director for the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s leading small-business association, on today’s release by the California Air Resources Board of its draft climate action plan.

“Reducing emissions and ensuring that our communities are safe, healthy, and clean are noble ideals, but state regulators and policymakers must ensure that small businesses are able to meet these goals with a realistic pathway and timeframe.

“It is important to remember that many, if not most, Main Street employers are still grappling with the devastating impacts of COVID-related shutdowns, soaring inflation, supply chain disruption. and retail theft across our communities. We hope and trust that CARB members and the Newsom administration leaders will seek to include small businesses, our number one job creators, throughout the development and ultimate implementation of this scoping plan.”
