NFIB Fly-In Returns to DC with In-Person Federal Advocacy Opportunities for Business Owners

Date: April 20, 2022

Each year, NFIB hosts an advocacy event for small business owners.

Each year, NFIB hosts an advocacy event for small business owners: the Washington, D.C. Fly-In. The Fly-In offers NFIB’s most active small business owner-advocates a chance to make their voices heard in Congress and talk face-to-face with legislators and their staff. The impact of small business owners’ advocacy during the Fly-In is significant, and has resulted in key pro-small business policy victories, and the defeat of harmful proposals.

As we return to an in-person annual Fly-In on June 13-15, NFIB members’ personal stories about their small businesses will be heard by key Members of Congress before they vote on the policy issues that impact small business. Specifically, focusing on educating legislators and their staff on harmful tax increases, inflexible mandates, and how their legislative decisions have a real-world impact on your business, employees, and community. Now more than ever, together, we can make a huge impact and carry the Voice of Small Business in Washington, D.C.

The small business owners who attend the Fly-In will provide vital insights that lawmakers need to know about the effects of federal laws and policy proposals. This is also a chance to educate legislators on the realities of job creation in their district. After two years of virtual events, we’re thrilled to be back in-person for the 2022 NFIB DC Fly-In and look forward to an exciting and informational schedule of events.

Some highlights from the schedule include:

  • Good Morning with Members of Congress
Over breakfast, attendees will hear directly from Members of Congress to find out “how the sausage is made!”
  • Stories Worth Telling
Meeting with a member of Congress can be intimidating but not when you know how to most effectively tell your small business story. The Stories Worth Telling workshop offers small business owners a venue to practice and leverage advocacy best practices to make their voices heard.
  • 2022 Midterm Elections: Your Voice, Your Vote
A deep dive into the 2022 midterm elections with NFIB’s Senior National Political Director, Sharon Sussin, and expert political analyst, Jim Ellis.
  • Small Business and the U.S Economy
Holly Wade, NFIB Executive Director, Research, will discuss and take questions on the latest roller coaster of economic trends and developments impacting the small business economy.
