Prop A’s Minimum Wage and Paid Leave Mandates Would Hurt Missouri Small Businesses

Prop A’s Minimum Wage and Paid Leave Mandates Would Hurt Missouri Small Businesses

Don’t Let Big Labor Crush Missouri’s Main Streets

Prop A was a bad deal for Missourians. It was a 2024 ballot initiative that would have hurt small business owners and the hardworking Missourians they employ. Thankfully, our Legislature stood up for Main Street by rolling back Prop A’s automatic minimum wage hikes and one-size-fits-all paid time off requirements.

Is Prop A coming back?

  • The fight to prevent Prop A’s bad deal for Missouri isn’t over – it may be back on your 2026 ballot in a new form, this time as an amendment to our state’s constitution.
  • Big Labor continues to fight for Prop A’s anti-small business policies which would make it harder for small businesses to keep their doors open.
  • Prop A supporters have already filed paperwork to place a constitutional amendment on the ballot during the 2026 election cycle.
  • Unlike Prop A which was rolled back by lawmakers, a constitutional amendment on minimum wage and paid sick leave would be nearly impossible to undo.
  • As a small business owner, what can you do now? If asked, don't sign any petition to put the old Prop A back on the ballot.

Take action: Sign the petition to tell lawmakers that Missouri small business owners value their employees and recognize the importance of offering competitive wages and benefits, but a one-size-fits-all mandate would destroy small businesses.
