NFIB Urges Mississippians to Shop Local During July 10-12 Sales Tax Holiday

Supporting small businesses helps strengthen the state's economy

NFIB State Director Leah Long says the nation’s leading small business advocacy organization is urging Mississippians to shop local during this weekend’s annual back-to-school sales tax holiday.

Friday, July 10, through Sunday, July 12, sales tax won’t be collected on eligible clothing, footwear and school supplies when the sales price of a single item is less than $100. Click here to learn more.

“Mississippi’s back-to-school sales tax holiday can help families and small businesses,” Long said. “It gives parents a chance to save on clothes, shoes, and school supplies, and it helps local merchants during one of their busiest times of the year.”

Long said the tax holiday also highlights the important role small businesses play in communities across the state.

“When families shop at locally owned businesses, they’re supporting local jobs, strengthening their communities, and helping Main Street businesses succeed,” she said.
