Following the 2026 legislative session, there are several new laws that go into effect on July 1, 2026. Highlighted below are a few of those new laws:

• House Enrolled Act 1177: Expanding Childcare Access

This law increases access to childcare by expanding the state’s employer childcare tax credit for businesses offering childcare options to employees. The credit can be used to help pay for costs such as operating or contracting with a childcare facility, employee training, and higher wages for staff.

• House Enrolled Act 1033: Strengthening Public Safety & the Judiciary
  This law intends to strengthen the structure and accountability of the Marion County Courts. This is a much-needed restructuring of the court’s governance, communication tools, and accountability, and mirrors recommendations by the National Center for State Courts.
