NFIB State Director Ben Homeyer today thanked lawmakers for passing the Small Business Regulatory Freedom Act, legislation that would strengthen oversight of state regulations, require regular reviews to identify outdated or unnecessary rules, and give lawmakers a greater role in approving regulations with significant economic impacts.

“Small business owners spend too much time and money complying with regulations that are outdated, unnecessary, or more complicated than they need to be,” Homeyer said. “H. 3021 is a big step toward making state government more accountable by reviewing rules and regulations and considering their impact on Main Street businesses.

“Our members appreciate the House and Senate for making this one of their top priorities and helping create a better environment for South Carolina’s small businesses.

“This is a win for South Carolina’s small businesses and the communities they serve,” Homeyer said. “We look forward to Gov. Henry McMaster signing it into law.”
