Watch NFIB Michael Ervin on NewsNation
West Virginia small business owner and NFIB member Michael Ervin joined Markie Martin NewsNation to discuss the state of the small business economy and how the 20% Small Business Deduction has created certainty for his Main Street business.
“We had a lot of uncertainty for the past five, six years. We’ve dealt with a lot of inflation. We did get some hope with the Big, Beautiful Bill. There was a [20% Small Business Tax Deduction] made permanent for small businesses like mine and so that gave us some clarity and some breathing room.”

“I do love what I do mainly because my business allows us to build community while roasting and brewing our coffee and that’s always been our tag line in our mission statement. And so, I still love what we do, and I never will stop loving it. But you know, we have a great community. Thankfully, we have a lot of folks that still want to support local as opposed to our mega corporations that are competitors. And so, I do have hope in that you know, I think one of the things I’d love to see Congress do is raise the [20% Small Business Tax Deduction] to 23%, which would give small business owners, in particular like mine, more of a level playing field with mega corporations.”
