Small Business Owners Bring Viewpoint to Capitol Hill

Small Business Owners Bring Viewpoint to Capitol Hill

June 17, 2026

NFIB members met with lawmakers during the NFIB D.C. Fly-In

What it means: NFIB members traveled to Washington, D.C. to meet with lawmakers about crucial small business policy issues. They discussed repealing BOI reporting, lowering credit card swipe fees, and more!

Our take: “We thank each official who met with small business owners and listened to their message about the solutions that will allow them to invest more of their hard-earned dollars back into their employees, businesses, and communities,” said NFIB President Brad Close.

Take Action: Amplify the voices of NFIB members and echo their message to lawmakers on these crucial issues.

Repealing Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) and lowering credit card swipe fees are crucial to small businesses. To urge action on these issues, small business owners from across the country took time away from their business to attend the NFIB D.C. Fly-In this June.

The event provided opportunities to meet with lawmakers but also to attend sessions and network with other small business owners. U.S. Representative Brad Finstad (MN-01) spoke about the security concerns surrounding the personally identifiable data previously submitted to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) by U.S. businesses. U.S. Senator Roger Marshall (KS) discussed legislation to lower credit card swipe fees. U.S. Representative Mark Messmer (IN-08) shared his support for stopping the federal Heat Standard mandate. Other speakers included Kelly Loeffler, Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration and political analyst Jim Ellis of the Ellis Insight Report.

Small business owners were able to have productive conversations with lawmakers from over 140 offices on the top issues and concerns. Hearing stories from owners about their day-to-day business operations is crucial for lawmakers to know what issues matter most to small businesses. Join their efforts and amplify their voices by sending a letter to your Senators and Representatives today!

Take Action: Amplify the voices of NFIB members and tell lawmakers to destroy BOI data and lower credit card swipe fees.
