NFIB’s Pennsylvania Team is actively tracking legislation that will impact small businesses – take action below on a few of our priority pieces of legislation:
- Minimum Wage Increase – Governor Shapiro continues to advocate for a $15 minimum wage increase. If enacted, a $15 wage is expected to cost Pennsylvania 104,000 jobs and $14 billion over the next decade, leading to job losses and business closures. Contact your lawmakers today and tell them Pennsylvania cannot afford an increased minimum wage!
- Mandated Paid Leave – A new proposal would require employers to offer paid family and sick leave, even if they only have a single employee. If passed, employers would be required to manage the majority of the paperwork requirements, including processing claims and calculating benefits. Tell your elected officials to oppose proposals that that your time and your money!
- Unemployment for Employees on Strike – A bill that would make striking workers eligible for Unemployment Compensation (UC) Benefits has passed the PA House and is up for consideration in the Senate. The legislation would provide full benefits to those who have not lost their jobs but have voluntarily gone on strike. Take action and tell your lawmakers you do not want an increase in unemployment benefits for people who are employed!
- Pennsylvania Budget – Governor Shapiro’s 2026 budget proposal calls for increased state spending that would create a $4.5 billion deficit. Send a message to your lawmakers to urge them to pass a balanced budget with no tax increases!
