Illinois released a climate action plan that calls for the phasing out of non-electric landscaping equipment
The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) released a draft Comprehensive Climate Action Plan (CCAP) calling for a ban on non-electric landscaping equipment.
The plan recommends that all lawn and landscaping equipment be electrified by 2035.
The plan also goes on to call for:
– all-electric building codes for new builds, reducing appliance options for small business owners and residents
– anti-competitive labor standards for energy projects
– further electrification and the shifting of more energy demand onto the state’s already overtaxed electricity grids
NFIB provided written comments to the IEPA expressing small-business concerns about the IEPA’s process for gathering stakeholder input and the recommendations included in the plan. You can read the comments here.
