Small Business Deduction has empowered owners to grow, hire, and invest in their operations

WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 14, 2026) – In a new video, NFIB member and Texas small business owner, Marcie Rodriguez, describes how making the 20% Small Business Deduction permanent has benefited her metal recycling company. Rodriguez explains how the deduction has allowed her to plan raises for employees and budget for new machinery.

“Some of the things that we’ve also done, knowing that this is now in play, is we’re looking at machinery. For us and what we do for metal recycling, it’s not like it’s a $100 register. I mean we buy half a million dollar machines and so that’s what we’re looking for, and how do we start adding to the machines that we have? Which ones are we looking to replace? Because we know we have that 20%.”

“If [the Small Business Deduction] had expired, I honestly don’t know what this year would look like. Because of what we do and how connected we are to overseeing markets, we’ve seen a decline in metal pricing, or something that goes down and then something goes up, and we don’t know. So, for us, the fact that we have that, it’s the one constant we can at least look at for the end of the year.”
