Tell Nebraska lawmakers to pass legislation protecting employees' privacy
Currently, in Nebraska, if an employee files for workers’ compensation, trial attorneys can access the filing and solicit services to them, leading to possibilities of frivolous lawsuits and excessive costs for employers and employees, who unnecessarily pay their workers’ compensation benefits over to trial attorneys.
That is why passing legislation in protecting employees’ privacy is important to protect employees and employers from unnecessary solicitations and excessive legal costs, which is what LB 455 would do.
With LB 455 is LB 1100, a Tort Reform package. This package would cap $5 million in noneconomic damages, and limits misleading evidence on medical damages, which would prevent trial attorneys from overinflating damages, a habit trial attorneys obsess over.
It is time to take a stand against frivolous lawsuits which can cause irreparable financial and reputation damage.
