Leah Long tells Talk 107.3 about the challenges facing Louisiana's small businesses

NFIBs priorities are coming into sharper focus as the Louisiana Legislative session enters its second week.

Speaking on “Mornings With Brian Haldane on Talk 107.3, State Director Leah Long said key issues include insurance costs, tax reform, and workforce development.

“A lot of our priorities revolve around kind of the same thing we’ve done the last couple years, lawsuit abuse, insurance rates for these commercial insurance for our business owners,” she said.

Small business owners also are urging their legislators pass a proposed state constitutional amendment creating a centralized sales tax collection system. Current law requires businesses operating in multiple parishes to file taxes in each location, even if no sales occurred there.
